CHC40608 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health

This qualification addresses work in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres and work under professional supervision within defined organisation guidelines or as sole practitioners.

These workers;

  • Assist with design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas
  • May be responsible for other workers.

Occupational titles may include:

  • Activities officer
  • Diversional therapy assistant 
  • Community leisure officer
  • Leisure officer
  • Disability officer – day support  
  • Recreational activities officer

In order to gain the certificate, 16 units must be completed for this qualification, 13 compulsory units and 3 elective units.

The Compulsory Units Include:  

  • CHCCOM403A -Use targeted communication skills to build relationships
  • CHCCS400A  - Work within a relevant legal and ethical framework
  • CHCCS401B  - Facilitate responsible behaviour
  • CHCICS405A - Facilitate groups for individual outcomes
  • CHCOHS312A - Follow safety procedures for direct care work
  • CHCORG405C - Maintain an effective work environment
  • CHCRH401A - Work effectively in the leisure and health industry
  • CHCRH402A - Undertake leisure and health programming
  • CHCRH404A - Plan, implement and monitor leisure and health programs
  • CHCRH405A - Plan leisure and health programs for client with complex needs
  • CHCRH406A - Apply knowledge of human behaviour in leisure activity programs
  • CHCRH407A - Apply sociological concepts to leisure and health
  • HLTAP401A  - Confirm physical health status
